The video game business’ results of sales from the Thanksgiving week, particularly on Black Friday, just came in. Nintendo Wii beat every single one of its video game competitors, including the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3. Sony and Nintendo already disclosed their holiday sales figures, whereas Microsoft has not officially revealed theirs.
According to reports by Nintendo, there were over one million Nintendo DSi and DS portable systems sold during the week. The company said that the only time they had sales this high was back in 2002’s Thanksgiving Week while selling Game Boy Advance.
Nintendo added that they sold around more than 550,000 Wii video game consoles between November 22 and 28, thus outselling Sony PlayStation 3.
However, Sony crowded about its game console sales during that week, stating that 2009’s figures indicated a year-on-year increase. They said that the demand for PS3 was “at an all time high with the system selling more than 440,000 units for the week ending 11/29/09.”
Though Microsoft has not released its Thanksgiving sales figures for its Xbox 360, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg posted on his Twitter: “Great Black Friday results just in, biggest sales week of the year for Xbox360, more than 2xs previous week sales.”
