Rumors are circulating that former CNN host Lou Dobbs is mulling a possible political run in 2012 for president.

Politico is reporting that since his departure from the news network earlier this month, Dobbs replied “Yes is the answer,” when asked on former Sen. Fred Thompson’s show if he would make a run at the White House.

“I’m going to be talking some more with some folks who want me to listen in the next few weeks,” Dobbs told Thompson. “Right now I’m fortunate to have a number of wonderful options.”

The article also eludes that Dobbs may also be considering running for the Senate in New Jersey.

Dobbs has been known for his being critical of President Obama on his stance on illegal immigration and the public bailouts of private companies. He has said he remains independent of a political party.
