The Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, or CECP, released its results from its yearly philanthropy assessment of about 140 top corporations. It showed that 53% of the businesses boosted their amount of humanitarian contributions in 2008 and 27% of them raised their endowments by over 10% year over year. Despite the demands of the current situation of the economy, company executives unfailingly pursued their businesses’ dedication to develop their communities and enhance social and green projects across the globe. Recently, CECP presented the Excellence Awards in Corporate Philanthropy to two corporations and one nonprofit organization.
The recipients of the 2009 Excellence Awards are: Liquidnet Holdings Inc., Western Union and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. An independent panel of judges chose the winners based on the following criteria: innovation, partnership, chief executive officer leadership, and measurement.
Liquidnet Holdings Inc. accepted the Small Company Award, an accolade that is given yearly to a company with revenues lower than $3 billion. For an international business that trades in 29 equity markets in five continents, Liquidnet targets its humanitarian endeavors in providing quality services to worldwide challenges.
