Blackstone’s board of directors and executives are the best of the crop.
Stephen Schwarzman, co-establisher of the Blackstone Group, is currently its chairman as well as chief executive officer. He serves as the board director chairman of Blackstone’s general partner, Blackstone Group Management, LLC. Schwarzman possesses a BA degree from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Stephen Schwarzman used to be a Yale School of Management adjunct professor and a member of the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors.
Hamilton “Tony” E. James acts as Blackstone’s president, chief operating officer and as board director for Blackstone Group Management LLC. James is also a Blackstone management and executive committee member. In 1973, he attended Harvard College as a John Harvard Scholar and received honors upon graduating Magna Cum Laude. A Baker scholar, James acquired an MBA with honors at Harvard Business School.
J. Tomilson Hill is the Funds of Hedge Funds group’s chief executive officer and president. Hill is also Blackstone’s vice chairman and Blackstone Group Management LLC’s board member. A former Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory Group’s co-head, he is currently a member of the Council on Foreign Affairs, where he functions as the Investment Committee’s chair and council board director.
Richard H. Jenrette is a board member of Blackstone Group Management LLC. Jenrette is a retired chief executive officer and chairman of The Equitable Companies Inc. He is also a former chief executive officer of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, Inc. The Rockefeller Foundation, New York University, and the American Stock Exchange are only some of Jenrette’s past affiliations as trustee or director.
The Right Honorable Brian Mulroney, a Montreal law firm business advisor and senior partner, is a Blackstone Group Management LLC member of the Board of directors. Mulroney used to be the Prime Minister of Canada (1984 to 1993) as well as a Progressive Conservative Party of Canada leader between 1983 and 1993.
William G. Parrett, previously a Deloitte and Touche USA LLP senior partner and a Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu chief executive officer, is a board director for Blackstone Group Management LLC. Presently, he serves as the chairman of the United States Council for International Business.
General partner Jay Light also sits as a board of member of Blackstone Group Management LLC. This Harvard Business School dean used to be Harvard’s senior associate dean and professor for Capital Markets, Investment Management and Entrepreneurial Finance. He is currently a director of both the Harvard Management Company and Partners HealthCare.
