GlaxoSmithKline was created in 2000 by the merger of GlaxoWellcome and SmithKline Beecham. The original companies emerged from several mergers of pharmaceutical company, a baby food company, and several research companies. The company headquarters are in Brentford, London. Its US headquarters are in Moon Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh. GlaxoSmithKline’s resarche facilities are in South East England, Philadelphia, and the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina.

GlaxoSmithKline is the second largest drug company in world, creating a wide range of products such as anti-infectives, and central nervous system, respiratory, gastro-intestinal/metabolic, and oncology drugs.
